Did lots of work on the JoAnna today, installed new blinkers, deleted oil injection pump, and made a custom seat.

I also started investigating into why none of my lights work. Found out there wasn’t a Headlight bulb, so I have one coming. I tested some of the old blinkers and the two I tested did work, so they weren’t getting power. Anyway here’s the new blinkers on the bike. I hadn’t decided where to mount them at this point. I’m going with the hole right behind the headlight and I’m going to grind off the old brackets. I also got rid of the gauge cluster, an moved the headlight back. It normally sits an inch farther forward on an ugly bracket. A bracket on a bracket. That’s a paddling’.

Deleting the oil pump was pretty easy. It’s a common mod as they have a high failure rate, so it’s safer just to pre-mix. Basically all you have to do is block off the hole where the pump goes, it’s actually sealed no matter what on the crank side. just good to cover it. Then you have to plug the hole on the intake side. I chose to just replace the banjo bolt with a short bolt.

I’m not proud of the shape of this block off plate, but it gets covered so I didn’t feel like trying to make it look nice with the tin snips I was using.

The other reason I wanted to delete the pump was to get rid of the oil tank which sits under the seat. I had to do this for my custom seat idea. There are plenty of cafe racer style seats you can just buy, but that’s no fun.

Here’s the before. It’s big bulky, and over all lame.

And the after.

Yes that’s half a skateboard. And I love it. It’s much more comfortable than you’d think.

Bonus. In a pinch a BMX style stem and work as a vise. I had to shorten the oil pump bolts in order to reinstall them sans oil pump. The yellow goop on that one bolt is some melted plastics from a wood working clamp that I tried to use. Turns out when you grind down a bolt she gets hot!

Plan on putting the gauge cluster back?

Nope. Speedometer didn’t work anyway. I was going to modify it to hold my phone but it look so much better  without it. I’ll figure something else out.

And the after.

Tomos the testicle shredding hardcore moped probably should have trimmed off his grandma’s flower basket carrier if there was any hopes of gaining street cred.

I think you will find that despite the heat cycling, and in general high heat, around your patch. There are a lot of round aluminum “pieces of flair” in existence that can be fixed in place over it using the product of your choice.

Any cheap universal cable-driven one on Amazon or Ebay that would work?

I should not have clicked that link.

Which? Both? Good!

Griptape and double tin cloth pants in the middle of Winter will probably work fine for the odd trip into town here and there. CCX skins are awful expensive or I’d suggest that.

The second link is pretty self explanatory if you remove the derogative element I placed in it.

The first one is traumatizing.

The second I wouldn’t both with because that area has a cap that goes over it to protect the oil pump.

I honestly think this seat is more comfortable than the stock one. Especially on the testicular area, since now all your weight is on your butt and tighs.

Probably. I also considered just getting a new cable which would probably fix it, but that’s more ones spent on something I don’t really care about.

I’m quite sure it is much lighter and feels more comfortable.  Sounds like the ladies were treated better by the stock seat design.

Just so long as this is conversational and you aren’t taking my thoughts as overbearing. I personally would strip the griptape, it will eat through anything on top of it!, and try mounting another material as the direct contact point.

L ooks like it could be a good choice.

I know Duluth banned stores from using plastic bags, but I have no idea if there is anything like a *JoAnna* Fabrics in town you could buy a small piece from.
